SPRINGFIELD, NJ – The Springfield Free Public Library held its third annual New Jersey Makers Day events during the week of March 17.
As always, the library’s maker events had a focus on community service. Local teens designed and created capes for kids in shelters and they also painted kindness stones to be distributed through the Meals on Wheels Program.
Library patrons also flexed their creativity while making mixed multimedia art with artist Simone Browne of Express Yourself Studios. Additionally, our younger patrons learned about forces with Mad Science and created a project to take home.

The week’s finale was a Making Around the World Event on Saturday, March 22nd. Children and adults of all ages were invited to visit the library to fill out a “maker passport” at interactive stations including marble runs, Legos, straw connectors, green screen video making, crafts, small robotics and more.
Makers Week at Springfield library was action-packed and was a wonderful opportunity to get the kids and adults away from the screens and to let their creativity shine through.
